Yearly Fish Drop
Fill your freezer with wild salmon! Before we head out on the boat for the summer we take pre-orders so that we know how much salmon we need to catch and process. This helps keep our little business’s costs down and share those savings with you. The best part? We only take as much as we need to fill our orders. By choosing to buy from us you’re helping reduce the impact on this precious resource so that it remains sustainable for us and the other communities that depend on these wild fish. We know there are easier ways to buy salmon - it means the world that you’ve chosen ours.
Pre-orders for the 2025 season will open in the spring.
bellingham Dockside Market
If you’re one of our lucky locals, you can get our fish year round at Dockside Market on the first and third Saturday of every month (until we sell out). This is the spot for our fresh summer salmon, live winter crab and a great way to buy from us if you don’t have the freezer space to stock up.
The market is located in Squalicum Harbor and is open from 10 am to 2 pm. From May to October we sell outside or on the dock at Gate 5. In the wet and windy months of November to April, you can find us inside at the Fisherman’s Pavillion. We aren’t currently taking pre-orders.

Our Story
Slack Tide was founded by two Bellingham locals in an effort to create a sustainable way to buy fish.
Together with our crew we spend the year harvesting wild-caught salmon and Dungeness Crab for our local community. We sell our catch at local markets and online via pick-up and delivery.
On our boat we have a philosophy of take only what you need and live with what you have—we believe that the future of our fisheries is small, sustainable harvests with the shortest supply chain. Less is more.
Our Catch
We’re on the water harvesting wild seafood all year long. In June and July we fly up to Bristol Bay, Alaska. We spend six weeks aboard the F/V Shillelagh hauling up nets chock full of sockeye from the Bay’s icy waters. Bristol Bay is home to the largest wild run of sockeye salmon and is a highly studied sustainable harvest.
In August through September, we get to fish in our front yard of Bellingham and Samish Bay for Puget Sound Chinook and Coho salmon. This is a limited harvest with only a few days a week of overnight openers. We use selective gear type and limited areas to mitigate our impact on bycatch and the resident orcas. The fish we catch have long passed the feeding grounds of our whales.
Wintery days put Dungeness on our deck - from October until spring we trade in nets for pots to harvest wild Dungeness Crab. A sustainable and world-renowned delicacy from the depths of Puget Sound and the Washington Coast brought directly to you.
